Exactly 3 years have passed since our establishment on October 27, 2011, by the 5 leading associations of the Turkish plastics sector; we continue our work aware of the significant responsibility of representing over 1400 companies.
While implementing the projects and initiatives we have produced to make our country a reference center in plastics, we have also established cooperation and collaboration among plastics and plastics-related sectoral non-governmental organizations. All of our country's valuable associations, which increase our representation power and effectiveness, have also joined us. This year, with the completion of the establishment of the Southeastern Anatolia Plastics Industrialists' Association and the Çukurova Plastics Industrialists and their participation in the federation, we will have increased our number of member associations to 9. Next year, we aim to increase our number of member associations and represent our sector to cover all geographies of our country by encouraging and organizing associations in provinces with high plastic production such as Konya, Eskişehir, and Kocaeli under the umbrella of our federation.
Our rapidly growing sector, which has become a global player in plastic production, unfortunately has not yet achieved its deserved place in global foreign trade in terms of creating added value. Under the umbrella of PLASFED, we will continue our efforts and projects to develop solutions for the rapidly growing problems of the Turkish plastics sector and to make our country a reference center on domestic and international platforms.
I would also like to briefly summarize the work we carry out in line with our goals as follows:
