PLASFED and ÇEVKO Foundation Collaborate for a Sustainable Future

PLASFED President Ömer Karadeniz emphasized the importance of this collaboration by stating, "We must not forget that we did not inherit the environment from our ancestors; we borrowed it from our children."

PLASFED and the ÇEVKO Foundation have signed a strategic cooperation agreement aimed at the separate collection of waste at the source and enhancing recycling processes. This protocol, which aims to deepen environmental awareness in the industry, is considered a significant turning point on the path to sustainable development.

With the goal of raising environmental awareness across society and establishing a sustainable waste management system, a strategic cooperation protocol has been signed between the Plastic Industrialists Federation (PLASFED) and the ÇEVKO Foundation for the Protection and Evaluation of Packaging Waste. The parties have decided to conduct joint efforts to improve the separate collection of waste at the source and make recycling processes more effective.

PLASFED’s long-standing commitment to the “Source Separation System” and its approach regarding the critical importance of recycling to the industry form the basis of this collaboration. Turkey’s dependence on imported raw materials demonstrates that recycling is essential not only from an environmental perspective but also from an economic aspect.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, PLASFED President Ömer Karadeniz emphasized that this collaboration is a historic step for the industry. He stated that the efforts made for years to enhance recycling processes have gained a new dimension with this protocol established with the ÇEVKO Foundation. “Through this collaboration, we aim to deepen environmental awareness in the industry and contribute to our country's sustainable development goals. We must not forget that we did not inherit the environment from our ancestors; we borrowed it from our children,” he stated.

ÇEVKO Foundation Board Chairman Okyar Yayalar noted in his statement regarding the collaboration that this protocol represents an important step in integrating the understanding of environmental responsibility into industrial policies in Turkey. Yayalar said, “Recycling is not just an environmental issue; it is also a cornerstone of economic sustainability. The step taken with PLASFED in this direction will provide significant gains for our country in the long term.”

ÇEVKO Foundation Secretary General Mete İmer, in his assessment, stated, “With this protocol, we are once again demonstrating how the cooperation of public, industry, and civil society can create a powerful impact in environmental transformation.”
