The general assembly of the Plastics Industrialists and Business People Association (PLASİAD) was held with high attendance at the PLASİAD Headquarters on September 9, 2025. Leading representatives from the industry showed great interest in the meeting. The general assembly served as an important platform for evaluating the developments recorded since the foundation of the association, discussing the problems in the industry, and determining strategies for the upcoming three-year period.
As a result of the voting at the general assembly, PLASİAD Board Chairman Ömer Karadeniz was unanimously reelected, renewing trust in his leadership.
In his opening speech at the general assembly, Karadeniz emphasized the strategic importance of the plastics industry, stating, "Our association, which we established to contribute to the solutions of problems affecting the future of our plastics industry, which ranks among the top in the world and EU countries, has been continuing its operations as a member of the Plastic Industrialists Federation since May 2022."
Addressing the perception and awareness in the industry, Karadeniz remarked, "We should not overlook plastics. From the heel of our shoe to the buckle in our hair, plastic is present in every area of life. While some may say 'I do not use plastic,' plastic is everywhere, from the clothes we wear to the technology we use. The reality is that a life without plastic is impossible." Sharing data that represented the industry's position within the Istanbul Chamber of Industry, Karadeniz said, "In the past, approximately 30 out of 55 committees were directly related to the plastics industry. In our study last year, we saw that this number has increased to 47. This indicates that the weight of our industry in manufacturing has increased."
Karadeniz also revealed the association's vision for the future, stating that they would pursue comprehensive projects, strong collaborations, and a wide vision in the upcoming period. He expressed that he expects active participation from members and that the industry’s problems should be addressed collectively. Karadeniz noted that the association has a structure that ensures the proper representation of the industry in both the public and bureaucracy, stating that they aim to bring together the strong focus in different regions and prevent fragmentation in the industry.
Stating the goals for the upcoming period, Karadeniz confirmed that PLASİAD would advance with comprehensive projects, strong collaborations, and a wide vision. He assured that they would work together to produce solutions to industry problems and contribute to the strength of the Turkish plastics industry.
