Ömer Karadeniz: "Those Who Adapt to the 'Made in Europe' Process Will Succeed"

Within the scope of the European Union's new industrial strategy, the consideration of Turkey as a part of the European value chain in the prominent "Made in Europe" approach is seen as an important turning point for Turkish industry. PLASFED President Ömer Karadeniz stated that this development will create new opportunities, especially for export-oriented sectors, and will further strengthen Turkey-Europe industrial integration.

Plastics Industrialists Federation (PLASFED) Chairman of the Board Ömer Karadeniz evaluated Turkey's consideration as a part of the European value chain in the "Made in Europe" approach, which is shaped within the scope of the European Union's new industrial policies, as a historical and strategic development for the Turkish industry.

Karadeniz stated that Turkey's acceptance as an important actor in European production and supply chains within the framework of the EU-Turkey Customs Union is a turning point that will increase the global competitiveness of Turkish industry.

Emphasizing that seeing Turkey as a natural part of European value chains reveals our industry's production power and identity as a reliable supplier once again, Karadeniz said, "Especially in many sectors ranging from automotive to white goods, and from plastics to construction, parts and products produced in Turkey are accepted as a reliable part of the European production chain. This situation creates a strategic advantage for our industry by enabling Turkish companies to participate directly in European projects and increase their export volumes."

"The plastics sector is an important partner for European industry"

Emphasizing that the plastics sector is a strategic production area that provides basic inputs for more than 45 sectors from automotive to packaging, and white goods to construction, Karadeniz stated that Turkey is an important partner for European industry thanks to its strong production infrastructure and flexible supply capability.

Stating that approximately 14 thousand manufacturing companies operate in Turkey and the sector provides direct employment to more than 300 thousand people and indirect employment to more than 1 million people in total, Karadeniz noted that it contributes significantly to the economy with an export volume exceeding 10 billion dollars. The President of PLASFED, the umbrella organization of the plastics sector, stated that the strengthening of industrial integration with Europe will accelerate the growth of the sector.

"Public and private sector cooperation contributed to the process"

Noting that the work carried out by public institutions, the business world, and sector representatives played an important role in the formation of this process, Karadeniz made the following assessment:

"In this process, our Minister of Trade, Mr. Ömer Bolat, the bureaucrats of the Ministry of Trade, business world organizations, and sector representatives made significant contributions. We thank all institutions and organizations that support the strengthening of the Turkish industry's position in European value chains."

"Sustainable production and competitiveness will be strengthened"

Karadeniz stated that the strengthening of industrial integration with Europe will also create significant opportunities in terms of green transition, sustainable production, and technology investments.

Expressing that as PLASFED, they will continue to support all kinds of studies that will increase the international competitiveness of the Turkish plastics industry, deepen its integration in the European market, and accelerate the sustainable production transformation, Karadeniz added that Turkey's role in the European production ecosystem will become even stronger in the coming period.
